"They Can't Break Mom's Spirit"

Yesterday, someone who knew Brooks' password information, logged in to her blog and effectively deleted her entire work. This person (who we all know quite well) must believe that by deleting Brooks' words, they've deleted her life and what she stood for.

Unfortunately for this sad miscreant, Brooks' brother (my Uncle Rick) was mirroring the blog and it will be a matter of days before it is restored in full. The worst part is this person failed at such a menial task of sabotage.

Despite all of the adversity Mom faced in life, as I said in my eulogy of her (a point that my partner Lauren brought up to me in conversation), her spirit could never be broken. This is just one more testament that Mom prevails.

In the next few days we'll be including an entry and photos on Mom's memorial from the 20th. Thank you to all who showed. And for those who couldn't, but wanted to be there, you were in spirit.

I was going to comment about what a pathetic and ugly little zero it must take to do something so cheap and nasty, but this site is about Brooks and her spirit... And now that I think of it she'd probably feel the same way! She was patient and loving but not naive about the mean spirit of a small soul.

Reese I was very close to your mother and she had shared somethings with me about your sister and for some reason when I heard about someone messing with her website I kinda figured out it could have been her but I didn't think she would do anything that bad that makes me mad as hell to think anyone wold be that sick in their damn head to do such a thing. Your mother was so special to me I loved her like she was my mother I just can't get over this.

This has been a really horrible experience, horrible mostly to think someone could stoop so low, even more so that it could be one of our own, though I doubt anyone will think of her that way again. I know everyone had to vent, and I think it's appropriate that the little shit was outted, but I will be glad when this is behind us and we can once again use this site to honor and remember Brooks in a positive way. Besides, what better way to show the insignificance of the petty little thug who could even imagine doing such a thing?

Isn't it interesting how people deal with whatever issues they have to deal with in their lives.

It seems to bring back to old saying: "you always hurt the one you love".

Brooks and her family will reside in my heart forever and I am looking forward to the return of her blogsite. It gave me such enlightment and made me feel like Brooks and I were sitting next to each other and sharing our lives very sincerely.

My love goes out to the entire family.

I can't believe this has happened Kris and I am so thankful that Rick can restore what has been lost. I can't believe anyone would want to do this!!! Please keep in contact Kris.

Love,
Nancy

That was a most disrespectful thing for Brooksie to do. I am glad to hear that Rick has mirrored the site.

It is amazing to me, and more wonderful than I can describe, how Brooks' friends could be a more loving part of her family than her own daughter. But then most of her friends and most of her family are decent, loving people who could never even concieve of doing such a thing to anyone, much less their own mother who just died. Well, for all the things I fantasize doing, I am satisfied that what she will do to herself over the years will be far worse than anything anyone else could do to her. That self-styled "spiritual seeker" is steadily creating her own hell, in which she will end up living alone, unloved, unmissed, and remembered only with disgust. A part of me could feel sorry for her, but she has worked so hard to achieve this status that I suppose she should be congratulated.

I have just had to delete two comments which made a defense of the blog's deletion.

In the interest of honoring Mom's sacred place, can we please refrain from anymore ugliness?

Mom's blog was deleted by a saboteur, but her spirit lives on. Let us honor this spirit by sharing what we loved about Mom, not about what we hate about this person or despising those who choose to defend their actions.

Please, for Mom's sake, let her rest in peace. Mom had her own opinions about the relationships with her children, but I believe she would want us to treat her space with respect, which is what the one who destroyed it refuses to do.

I understand everyone's anger because it is legitimate, but no matter what anyone tries to do, they won't be able to hurt Mom nor sabotage the relationship we had with her.

One can delete Mom's printed words, but one can never delete Mom.

And for future reference, Mom's password, which was taken out of her apartment by two people on a letter addressed to me and obviously xeroxed, has been changed. No other harm will be done to this blog.

I believe that all the ugliness should go and return this site to what it is suppose to be as Rick said.

How about we delete all the ugly things that have been said and give this site the respect it deserves. For Brooks sake....please

We are all subject to 'nasties' at one time or another; and it was particularly bad that some person should have sought to eradicate the treasured work of Brooks on the internet. I am so happy to know that every effort is now being made to restore her wonderful work; and I speak for Waleli and the other members of her little group in offering prayerful thought for every success in restoring the blog.

We don't really 'die', other than in the way we perceive things in our day-to day embodied life.

Brooks is in the light from which she came, from which all of us came, and to which we return to a timeless experience of love and caring

May the blessings of The Great Spirit be with you, always.

Wahaliedoda, privileged to have exchanged posts with Brooks as a member of Waleli's group - NDETreasuredTimes@yahoogroups.com

I'd like to help if I can. I was watching Brooks writing in google reader, and even though information was deleted from the site, google reader retained all former posts. If you have any lost date, I would be happy to copy and paste her entries for you?

Ara,

Thank you very much for your help. We actually have the entire blog saved into disk, but the difficult part is trying to reincorporate it back into the blog without the laborious work of having to copy and paste everything.

I'm working with blogger.com right now to see if they can simply retrieve what was deleted or if I will have to, in fact, post them all individually which will take quite some time.

Either way, it will get done. Thank you again for your willingness to help. It's a beautiful thing that people don't let things like this break them, but just rise to the occasion as needed.

Alright, good to hear. Let's hope blogger can just back it up to before it was deleted. Take care.
