random memory about Mom and gender

When I was very young and before my folks divorced, we owned a cabin near Hinton, Oklahoma that we would visit in the summer and where I lived for some months after the separation.  One day my Mom and I were in the Toyota 4Runner and we were on a narrow path that ended and Mom had to turn us around.  Dad was back at the cabin.  We managed to get almost wedged between two high walls of earth and it began to look like we might be stuck there.  I panicked and told Mom we should go get Dad because he would be able to get us out.  But Mom patiently said, "No, I can get us out of this."  Within a few minutes, after activating the four wheel drive, Mom got us safely back on the road.
