Happy 2008!

Just wanted to wish you, one and all, a Happy New Year! I hope it's full of joy and prosperity and success for all, however you may count such things. Thank you all for your support and love this past year, and especially these past few months. How can I feel anything but joy in being bequeathed so large and loving a family?

I wish I had someone who could properly translate Portuguese for me. BABELFISH did as good as it could and I appreciate your good thoughts (though Babelfish, as usual, made it pretty funny and it was hard to get the real message). Hi Rick, Happy New Year to you, too. I still visit dear Brooks here very often and I think of her and you all always. I feel so connected. But this New year has not been a happy one for us. My sister separated a couple of months ago and my brother in law committed suicide on the 31st December. :-(((

Oh, dear Ana Maria, I am so sorry to hear you've been rocked by such sadness and tragedy. I feel it's even worse than our losing Brooks; at least we had some time to accomodate ourselves to that sad fact and, cancer or not, it was at least the natural flow of life that took her. I suppose the same could be said of this, but it is difficult to see it that way.

Of course words cannot express the sadness I feel for you and your family but I do wish there were something I could say or do. I just hope your sister doesn't take on guilt over this tragedy. My dad committed suicide, also, so I know something of how that can eat at a person.

Please tell your family that your "other" family from far away is with them in spirit and prays that you all get through this quickly with love and strength.

Just know that our hearts are with you and we are thinking about you.
