IT'S RAINING TONIGHT
I'm glad it's raining. It was sticky and hot today. Now it feels cooler and smells better.
I got angry with George Bush today for lying again. He held a news conference and he could not say one clear sentence without stumbling all over himself. And when he did speak he was lying, as he always is. He said it was "the people who hate America" who are lying about U.S. human rights violations against suspected terrorists being held in Cuba. Oh, pleeeze. Of course the U.S. does everything in its power to dehumanize and degrade political prisoners. Of course the U.S. has dishonored and flushed the Quran. I can't believe any of us doubt what we do to any terrorist that we are holding. Let us not try to deny what we are capable of doing in the name of "safety and freedom". Let's not pretend that we honor the holy book of the terrorists. Let's not pretend that we haven't mistreated political prisoners before and will again. I just resent George for treating us like we are children and expecting us to swallow the swill that pours out of his mouth.
The Supreme Court overturned the conviction of one of the head Enron corporate heads. Why is that not a surprise to me?
The defense has rested and the case has gone to the jury in the Michael Jackson trial. I wonder if they will dare to convict him?
It's my understanding that the new movie, "War of the Worlds", starring Tom Cruise, a hard line advocate of Scientology, is L. Ron Hubbard's version of what Planet Earth will experience in the coming years. According to Hubbard, aliens are already running this world and will soon make their presence known. They say his church is trying to "cure" Cruise of homosexuality, which is the reason he has recently acted like a teenager in love with his young new girlfriend of 4 months.
Today, on the morning of his high school graduation, a young man in Ohio loaded his 22 gauge rifle and shot and killed his grandmother, grandfather, mother, a sister and two friends, critically wounded another sister, and then turned the gun on himself.
Last week we executed another man in Missouri.
Is there something wrong with this picture, or is it just me? I think there's big trouble in Little Dixie, as they say, and I'm afraid it's too late to turn it around.
